Payments are processed by Stripe
All card payments on HandIt are processed by Stripe Payments Europe Ltd.. HandIt never sees or stores your card number — it's entered into a Stripe-hosted form and tokenised. Your bank may ask you to confirm the payment with 3D Secure (a code from your banking app or SMS). This is a regulatory requirement for EEA card payments under PSD2.
When is my card actually charged?
Your card is first authorised (a hold) and then later captured (the actual charge). The split is what makes our escrow possible:
- You post a task and accept a helper
- Hold appears the moment you accept. Charge happens when the helper QR-scans completion (or 48h auto-capture).
- You book a service listing
- Hold appears when you submit. Charge happens when the provider QR-scans delivery.
- You request a borrow rental
- Two holds appear: rent + refundable deposit. The rent is charged when both parties confirm handoff. The deposit stays as a hold and is only charged for damage or late fees.
- You tip a helper
- Tips are captured immediately — no escrow. Once paid, a tip cannot be refunded through the app.
Fees
HandIt's fees are flat across all subscription tiers — no tier discounts on fees:
- Helper commission: 10%, deducted from the helper's earnings on each completed booking.
- Buyer service fee: 5%, added to the price you pay at checkout. Always shown before you confirm.
- Total platform take: 15% of the gross transaction.
- No posting fees — listing a task or item is free.
Subscriptions (Plus) exist for monthly boost credits, badges and priority support — they do not change platform fees.
Currency & display
All charges on HandIt are in EUR. If you've set a different display currency in your settings (such as RON), prices may be shown to you in that currency, converted at our daily exchange rate. The actual card charge and the receipt always reflect the EUR amount.
Helper payouts
Helpers receive money via Stripe Connect Express. The first payout is held for 7 days (Stripe's standard new-account window); after that, payouts run on Stripe's schedule (typically daily) directly to the helper's bank account.
HandIt does not control payout timing. To check or change your bank details, helpers should tap View payouts in their wallet — it opens the Stripe Express dashboard.
What does "Earnings" mean in my wallet?
The Earnings line shows funds that have been captured from buyers but haven't yet been paid out to your bank. As Stripe sends each daily payout to your bank, the number decreases. A drift safety net runs every night to keep this in sync with Stripe's actual balance for your connected account.
VAT and invoices
HandIt's 5% buyer service fee is shown VAT-inclusive where applicable. Helpers are responsible for declaring their own income to the tax authorities; HandIt does not issue tax invoices on behalf of helpers.
Once HandIt is required to issue Romanian fiscal invoices (under the e-Factura system), this section will be updated. In the meantime each transaction generates a HandIt receipt with a sequential number — keep it for your records.
How discover ranking works
When you browse the discover or borrow feed, listings are ranked by a combination of distance from your location, recency, ratings, and any active boost (paid promotion). "Boosted" listings are clearly marked. We do not personalise pricing based on who is browsing.
