Why I built HandIt!
It started with a simple need: someone nearby to help with everyday tasks. Gig apps felt impersonal, asking on social media was awkward, and the neighbors who could actually help had no way to know I needed them.
So I built HandIt!: a place where people help each other out. Assemble furniture, walk a dog, learn a skill, borrow a drill. Someone nearby can do it, and they'd be glad to get paid for it.
Every line of code (mobile, web, backend) was written by one person, with one goal: create the app I wished existed.

I'm a software engineer, and I kept noticing the same gap: people who need help, and people a street away who'd gladly be paid to give it, with no way to find each other.
So I closed it myself: I designed, built, and launched the iOS and Android apps, the web platform, the backend, and the payments. Every part, solo.
The goal: make asking a neighbor for help as easy as texting a friend.

What is HandIt!?
HandIt! is a local task marketplace and borrow/lend platform that connects people in the same community. Users post tasks like cleaning, deliveries, repairs, tutoring and pet care, and others nearby apply to do them for a price in the local currency: lei in Romania, euros elsewhere. Card payments are held by Stripe and released when the buyer scans the helper's QR code at completion, with an automatic payout to the helper's bank. Available on iOS, Android and the web at handit.me.
Who created HandIt!?
HandIt! was created by Tofan, a solo founder and software engineer based in Bucharest, Romania. He designed, built and launched every part of it himself: the iOS and Android apps, the web platform, the backend and the payment system.
Is HandIt! free to use?
Yes. You can post tasks, apply to help others and borrow or lend items at no cost. Payments go by card through Stripe in your local currency: buyers pay a 5% service fee at checkout and helpers have a flat 10% commission deducted from their earnings, which are paid out automatically to their bank account. An optional Plus subscription (€2.99/mo) adds monthly boost credits, recurring tasks and a profile badge.
What kind of tasks can I post?
Almost any everyday task: cleaning, moving help, furniture assembly, deliveries, pet care, tutoring, gardening, cooking, tech support and more. HandIt! also has a borrow/lend feature for physical items like tools, sports equipment or electronics.
Where is HandIt! available?
On iOS (App Store), Android (Google Play) and the web at handit.me, listed in 37 store locales and running in 30+ languages including English, Romanian, Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Korean. Prices are shown in the local currency, and most activity today is in Romania, with Bucharest first.
